I was using the Holoviews in Jupyter notebook and was everything fine. But after I´ve installed the Panel, suddenly it stops to work when I try to import the modules and the holoviews.extensions. Like the examplo below:

cannot import name ‘encode_utf8’ from ‘bokeh.util.string’ (C:\ProgramData\Anaconda3\lib\site-packages\bokeh\util\string.py)
Hi @saulobertolino, to get a clear answer to your issue I’m pretty sure that you’ll have to provide more contextual info (OS, Environment, etc.).
If you’re using conda, you could for instance provide the output of running conda list in your activated environment.

Can you do me another favor? Report what bokeh.__version__ actually reports in the notebook and also post the full error when you run import holoviews.plotting.bokeh.

I resolved the problem! What I did was to update the Holoviews and Panel using conda update. I realised that when I did it, it downgraded the bokeh version from 2.0.0 to 1.4.0
The following packages will be DOWNGRADED:
bokeh 2.0.0-py37_0 --> 1.4.0-py37_0
After this, everything is working fine. Both Panel and Holoviews
You really shouldn’t have to downgrade bokeh, the whole point of the HoloViews 1.13.x and Panel 0.9.x releases was that they’d be compatible with Bokeh 2.0.
I am having the same problem, I am new to python
It keeps coming up with the same error “ImportError: cannot import name ‘encode_utf8’ from ‘bokeh.util.string’”
@sirjay83 You must have an old version of HoloViews. I can only suggest trying to upgrade to the latest (1.13.3).
I am also getting the same importerror when importing hvplot.pandas. I have Panel 0.9.7, holoviews 1.13.3, and Bokeh 2.1.1.
